It’s time again for some original poetry, which I strive to generate at least once a month, and which will always be free to my wonderful subscribers and ever curious visitors.

I recently joined a local gym and feel much better for the experience. ‘Selfie Girl’ is my second character portrait from a distillation of informal observations (my first being ‘Lunching Lady’).

AI-generated image: A female gym user wearing neon lycra takes a selfie whilst admiring herself in a large mirror.

Selfie-Girl

Mirror, mirror.
Adult playroom.
Weights and gains.
Gaze at mirror.
Covers whole wall
For inspection of
my gorgeous all.

Mirror, mirror.
Killer lip filler
Nut cracking cheeks
Turn in mirror.
Old ones dare come here.
Comparison good.
I’m easy winner.

Mirror, mirror.
Don’t glow keen
to any muscle-man preen.
Mirror the room.
Okay, okay, just enough
to prove split-pea lycra
has natural sheen.

Mirror, mirror.
Move a machine.
Stretch a muscle.
Checks out mirror.
Don’t stare over here.
A drop of sweat
has dared appear.

 Heart – Like – what?
Block, block, block.

Mirror, mirror.
Shower’s steam.
Can’t see me in
Mirrored dreams.
Doodle-dog’s tail
swipes left then right.
Indecision wiped clean.

Mirror, mirror.
Social feeding,
minutes, no - hours, filler.
Mirrored disgrace,
need fuller face.
Book a session,
lips a-quiver.

Mirror, mirror.
Hide the sick-make
from a million stares.
Through the mirror,
I know she’s out there.
The real-me killer,
her glass-cutter bared.

Wow, this is great! I rarely find poetry that is worth reading. (Don't tell the others🤫!)
