I've been to the New Forest (when I was a child). It didn't scare me at all.
I am now recalling the curious number of times when, on some trip into nature, I got separated from the group and lost all on my own, and far from being scared, I was liberated, spiritually, and at home. Very magical. Perhaps I am not entirely human after all.
I read the other entries - seems to me, as usual in competitions, selection of winners was down to subjectivity, not necessarily which is better. All four were different, I mean.
Yes, there is precious little objectivity with these things. I often read the judge's bio to align my entry on the more obvious biases. (I once had a boss called βBertβ.)
