For this month’s poem I’ve taken inspiration from the homonymic expansion of deoxyribonucleic acid.

Unzipping Their DNA
She’s doxy, ribald, new clay and plastic. He's a foxy rider, declared a classic. Unzipping as consensual pleasure, together their genes now wind, in unwitting combination of the new. Mutations are necessary a necessary diversity, subject to adversity. No chemicals berating their helical bloodlines. Duplicating life’s rhythms, aeons without rhyme or design, noted absence signals new life. A point in space on the landscape of infinite choice. Natural correction of chromosomal error is subsumed socially, a self-silenced possibility of what might be. Other unborn offerings, marked without celebration, declared a lifestyle aberration. Permitted consent of rejection a modern necessity.
